DISADVANTAGES OF BEING A WAITER
ODD TIMINGS
Working as a waiter anywhere involves working on odd hours, as mostly the peak timings for any food and beverage outlet is till late night. This disturbs the routine of a person and directly affects the health.
LONG WORKING HOURS
Along with the odd timings, there is also this disadvantage of having long working hours. There are even break shifts in many outlets.
LESS REMUNERATION
If we talk about India, if we compare the amount of hard work required as a waiter, remuneration is very less.
LACK OF INCENTIVES
The job of a waiter is not considered as a high profile job,
therefore the owners of outlets do not consider waiters to give
benefits or incentives.
NEGLIGENCE TO SOCIAL LIFE
A waiter has to sacrifice his/her social life to a large extent as he/she has to work even on festivals or special days like new year.
DIFFICULT TASKS TO PERFORM
Handling guests in a hospitable way is also a very big challenge. Any guest has to be treated like God. Sometimes it is very difficult to deal with a fussy guest, and sometimes you even have to apologize even when you have not done anything wrong.
MORE HEALTH PROBLEMS
Working as a waiter demands a lot of hard work. One is always on his feet all the time and also the duration of working hours is more. So there are high chances of stress, due to the spoiled routine, as well as high risks of health problems due to more of physical work and less of rest time.
LESS GROWTH AND ADVANCEMENT
It is usually very difficult to grow as a waiter and it requires a lot of patience, hard work and experience to get promotions.
LESS SUITABLE JOB FOR FEMALES
As it demands more of physical work and also sometimes dealing with guests who are angry and not friendly all the time.
ADVANTAGES OF BEING A WAITER
MAKING ADDITIONAL MONEY ON TIPS
Tips are very common in this type of work. Waiters usually make extra earnings through the tips that they get. Sometimes, to get more amount of tips, a waiter may try to give his best while serving the guest so that he gets a good amount of tip in return. This also benefits the restaurant or the food outlet as the guest feels happy and satisfied.
EASY EMPLOYMENT
It is very easy to get a job as a waiter, to be more specific part time jobs is very easy to get and very common also due to the increase in events, marriages and functions.
GET TO KNOW ABOUT A LOT OF PEOPLE
A lot of guest interaction takes place which is very interesting and satisfying for many people as you get a chance to interact with so much people that too from different regions and of different tastes.
WORKIS LIMITED TO THE WORKPLACE ONLY
Oneof the biggest advantage is that you don’t have to carry any sort of work withyou to your home. It’s just completed and winded up while ending the shiftonly.
Conclusion
so we concluded that yes, disadvantages are more in number than advantages of being a server . Therefore my blog suggest hotel industry that if they provide more benefits they will be happy so they give their 100% in their own work as we know they are the first person with whom guest will be in contact . Overall if the hotel waitress staff is happy then service will good guest will happy and that become more succesfull.
